Sneffel Updates

Been working a lot on sneffel recently, actually re-wrote the entire thing!

One of these days I'm going to write a blog that's actually relevant to development – about some problem I encountered and the solution I came up with, or about how I put together an app from a new technology. I've done it once, I wrote a blog about some weirdness in Adobe AIR (back when it was called Apollo) and, according to Google Analytics, some folks even read it! (I hope they found it helpful!)

But normally I think the problems I encounter are so banal that no one else in the universe would ever have trouble with it, or so arcane that I doubt anyone would even want to know (the voice in the back of my head is arguing with both cases.) Tomorrow I'll be working on a project for collaborating on green energy initiatives in Adobe Flex and AMFPHP – maybe that will produce a decent blog. One can hope!

In the meantime, I thought I'd announce that I've put a new project online. Its called “Sneffel (Doodle).” I was prototyping a whiteboard interface for Sneffel, and I thought that just “doodling” was fun, so I decided to put it online. It's pretty simple, just using BlazeDS, Flex, and the messaging service, and some funky Java/Actionscript classes to handle the data transfer. When a new user approaches the app, it creates a blank whiteboard for them. That user can pass around the URL to other users, and they can all scribble together. It's actually a lot of fun to play with! You can check it out for yourself at http://doodle.gegn.net.
