Mathematics of Matthew Eric Bassett

I've just finished my MSci in Mathematics with Theoretical Physics at University College London. I wrote my MSci project on Bost-Connes type systems, which are C* dynamical systems that capture isomorphism classes of number fields. During my time there, I also founded and organized the UCL Maths Undergrad Colloquium. It's a weekly seminar series given by and for undergraduate maths students.

I'm very enthusiastic about mathematics, and – as expected this early in my career – my interests are all over the place: noncommutative geometry, algebraic number theory, ergodic theory, quantum field theory, and quantum computing. Starting this September I'll be pursuing a Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Shahn Majid at Queen Mary University of London.
